Mac Attack Guide Services is led by James Hardesty, whose fishing roots began in Fort Collins, Colorado. From an early age, James spent countless days fishing Lake McConaughy, developing a deep understanding of the lake’s structure, seasonal patterns, and changing conditions. James is a USCG licensed captain with years of experience on Lake McConaughy, specializing in daytime and night walleye trips using advanced sonar and proven techniques.

His passion for fishing led him into competitive spearfishing, where he earned multiple wins and developed the discipline and decision-making skills required to perform under pressure. That competitive foundation later transitioned into professional walleye angling.

James has competed in professional walleye tournaments, including events on the National Walleye Tour, refining a tournament-tested approach focused on efficiency, adaptability, and consistency.

Today, Mac Attack Guide Services brings together decades of experience and local knowledge to provide professional, safe, and educational guided fishing trips on Lake McConaughy.

Mason Mendell – Guide

Mason Mendell is a lifelong outdoorsman who grew up in Ogallala, Nebraska, with Lake McConaughy serving as his backyard. From an early age, Mason developed a strong connection to the water and the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing, hunting, and learning the seasonal patterns of western Nebraska.

At just 23 years old, Mason brings a unique blend of local knowledge and technical experience to Mac Attack Guide Services. He currently works with Humminbird, assisting with underwater lake mapping projects across the United States and Canada. This hands-on work has given him an advanced understanding of structure, depth, and fish habitat—knowledge that directly translates to success on the water.

In addition to fishing and hunting, Mason’s passion for surfing reflects his love for challenging environments and adapting to changing conditions—skills that carry over into his approach as a guide. His calm demeanor, strong work ethic, and technical background make him a valuable asset to both the team and the anglers he guides.
